10 districts closed to foreigners in Istanbul

Closure of 8 more districts of Istanbul for foreigner Immigration.

The Turkish Interior Minister announced the closure of eight districts of Istanbul for foreigner Immigration. There will be no new foreign registration in these districts.

Interior Minister made a statement to members of press after the Istanbul Migration Assessment Meeting. Referring to the decisions they made today 07 October 2022, Soylu said the following:

Kuçukçekmece, Başakşehir, Bağcılar, Avcılar, Bahçelievler, Sultangazi, Esenler and Zeytinburnu already closed to temporary protection in Istanbul, are now closed for any type of foreigner Immigration. In other words, there will no longer be a new foreign registration in these districts.

Bringing the number of closed districts to 10.

Prior to this Esenyurt and Fatih were closed already. Thus, together with Esenyurt and Fatih, 10 districts are closed to foreigners who may come after this.

What’s the exception?

A student is allowed to continue his studies or if he has bought a house as an investor. Apart from that, there is an exception in the case of illness.
